Summer Holiday Activities

Hi Everyone,

We have now entered the summer holidays and i wanted to give you some optional activities to do over the holidays.

Knowledge of the world:
Take a look at the Bristol Community Learning page for some family activities that are to be completed with the whole family involved - https://communitylearningwest.net/educate/?fbclid=IwAR3kddzsR-bB3N1kI2EquVsAmT6btg8DChex73K_gty3Uk7NRVBbpLim_kk

Music:
Throughout the summer holidays Harmony's Music Club will be bringing you singing, playing, and musical challenges in the form of mini-adventure videos for you to join in with in addition to more downloadable family Home Adventures - https://www.facebook.com/HarmonysMusicClub

Can you drive?
If so why not visit Wales' Gruffalo woodland trail. Come and enjoy a fresh air fuelled family adventure on our vast 100 acre site!!  Explore and discover the Guinea Pigs, Miniature Shetland Ponies, Straw Bale Obstacles, The Fairytale Cottage, Fairy Forest, Dragons Nest, Lost Boys Hideout, Willow Maze, Hobbit Hill and of course Wales’ only official GRUFFALO TRAIL complete with stunning new sculptures!!  - https://mountainviewranch.co.uk/getting-to-the-ranch

If you don't have access to transport you could walk to visit Bristol Museum and Art Gallery once it reopens which is free of charge.

Expressive Arts and Design:
- Draw and paint pictures
- Make models from junk at home
- Listen to music and sing your favourite songs.

Other suggestions:
- Take an old notebook and help your child to create a summer journal of what you get up to over the holidays,
- Visit a library if they are open,
- Do some cooking and baking activities weighing out different ingredients, mixing and stirring ingredients.
- Identify numbers on number plates, house numbers, road signs etc. what is the biggest number? What number comes next? What number is before?
If you go for a day out, such as a visit to a farm, zoo or theme park they could make an information leaflet or write about your favourite animal or ride,
- Reading as much as possible: signs, labels, menus, leaflets.

Take care and best wishes

Mrs Carter
